Height Requirements: • Male Candidates (Plains): Minimum 152.5 cm • Male Candidates (Hilly regions - Gorkhas/tribals from specified areas): Minimum 157.5 cm • Coastal areas candidates may have relaxation as per norms Weight Requirements: • Proportionate to height and age as per IAF medical standards • Minimum weight should be 48 kg for males Chest Measurements (for Male Candidates): • Minimum unexpanded chest: 77 cm • Minimum expansion: 5 cm (77 cm unexpanded to 82 cm expanded) • For hilly region candidates: 76-81 cm (5 cm expansion) Visual Standards: • Near Vision: N-6 each eye (without glasses) • Distant Vision: 6/6 each eye correctable to 6/6 if required • No color blindness • No squint or other eye defects General Medical Standards: • No past history of mental illness or nervous breakdown • Free from any communicable diseases • No deformities, congenital defects, or permanent physical disability • Dental fitness with minimum 14 dental points • No history of asthma, epilepsy, or chronic diseases • Hearing should be normal - able to hear forced whisper from 6 meters • No tattoos on body except as per IAF policy (certain small traditional tattoos allowed on limited body parts) • Free from any surgical conditions requiring treatment All selected candidates will undergo a comprehensive medical examination at Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME) or designated IAF medical centers. The selection process for IAF Airmen Medical Assistant comprises multiple stages: Stage 1: Online Application Screening All applications will be screened for basic eligibility including educational qualification, age limit, and completion of application form. Only eligible applications will be processed further. Stage 2: Written Examination (Phase 1 Test) Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written examination at designated centers. The exam will be conducted in two papers: Paper 1 - English: Duration: 60 minutes, Marks: 100 • Comprehension • Vocabulary • Grammar • Sentence formation • Synonyms and antonyms • Error detection • Fill in the blanks Paper 2 - Physics and Mathematics OR Biology: Duration: 60 minutes, Marks: 100 • For candidates with PCM background: Physics and Mathematics questions • For candidates with PCB background: Physics and Biology questions (relevant for Medical Assistant trade) • Questions based on 10+2 syllabus of CBSE/State Boards • MCQ-based objective questions with negative marking The written test will be conducted at various centers across India including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Jaipur, and other major cities. Stage 3: Physical Fitness Test (PFT) Candidates qualifying the written exam will be called for Physical Fitness Test at designated Air Force Selection Centres. The PFT includes: • 1.6 km run to be completed in stipulated time • Physical measurements verification (height, weight, chest) • Basic fitness assessment Stage 4: Adaptability Test A series of tests to assess the psychological adaptability and behavioral traits of candidates including: • Situational reaction test • Group discussion • Personal interview by Psychologist • Assessment of attitude, temperament, and motivation for joining Air Force Stage 5: Medical Examination Comprehensive medical examination conducted by Air Force Medical Board including: • General physical examination • Vision and hearing tests • Chest X-ray • Blood and urine tests • ENT, Dental, and specialist consultations • Psychological assessment Candidates must be declared medically fit in all parameters as per IAF medical standards.
