IIIT Allahabad Non-Teaching Recruitment 2026 - Introduction

1. Physical Training Instructor (01 Post) - Pay Level-6: This Group B non-ministerial position carries a pay scale in Level-6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission pay matrix (Rs. 35,400 - 1,12,400 plus allowances). The Physical Training Instructor is responsible for planning and conducting physical education activities, sports training programs, fitness assessments, organizing inter and intra-institute sports competitions, managing sports facilities and equipment, coordinating with national sports organizations, and promoting overall health and wellness among students and staff. The role requires a candidate with professional qualifications in physical education and preferably experience in sports coaching or physical training in reputed educational institutions.
2. Junior Assistant (05 Posts) - Pay Level-3: These Group C positions carry pay scale in Level-3 of the 7th CPC pay matrix (Rs. 21,700 - 69,100 plus allowances). Junior Assistants perform various clerical and administrative functions including file management, correspondence handling, data entry, record maintenance, attending to visitors and telephone calls, assisting in preparation of reports and documents, maintaining registers and databases, supporting senior administrative staff in day-to-day office operations, and any other administrative duties assigned by competent authority. 3. Junior Technician (05 Posts) - Pay Level-3: These Group C technical positions also carry pay scale in Level-3 (Rs. 21,700 - 69,100 plus allowances) and are further sub-categorized into two specializations:
- Junior Technician (Lab) - 03 Posts: These positions involve working in computer science and electronics laboratories, assisting faculty and students in practical sessions, setting up and maintaining laboratory equipment and computers, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, maintaining laboratory inventory, ensuring safety protocols, and supporting research and project work.
- Junior Technician (Maintenance) - 02 Posts: These positions involve maintenance of institute infrastructure including electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, civil works, preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment, coordinating with contractors for major repairs, ensuring uninterrupted utilities and services, and responding to breakdown situations promptly.
In addition to basic pay, all selected candidates will be entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, medical facilities, leave benefits, pension under National Pension System (NPS), and other allowances as per Central Government norms applicable to educational institutions.
Detailed Eligibility Criteria
For Physical Training Instructor:
Essential Educational Qualifications: (i) Graduate degree (Bachelor's) from a recognized university, AND (ii) Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed) degree from a recognized university/institution. Desirable Qualifications: Master's degree in Physical Education (M.P.Ed) and/or diploma/certificate in sports coaching in any specific game/sport from recognized institution. Experience: At least 2 years of experience as Physical Training Instructor or Sports Coach in a reputed educational institution, sports academy, or government organization is desirable. Special Skills: Practical knowledge and proficiency in at least two major sports/games, knowledge of sports rules and regulations, ability to coach and motivate students, first aid and sports injury management, and familiarity with organizing sports events.
For Junior Assistant:
Essential Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Essential Skills: (i) Proficiency in computer applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email handling, and internet operations, (ii) Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute in English or Hindi. Desirable Qualifications: Diploma or certificate in Office Management, Computer Applications, or relevant field. Experience: Previous experience in clerical or administrative work in government/PSU/educational institutions is desirable but not mandatory.
For Junior Technician (Lab):
Essential Educational Qualifications: (Option 1) Diploma in Engineering (3 years) in relevant branches like Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, or Information Technology from AICTE/State Board recognized institution, OR (Option 2) Bachelor's degree in Science (B.Sc) in relevant subjects like Computer Science, Electronics, Physics, OR (Option 3) Bachelor's degree in Computer Applications (BCA), OR (Option 4) Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certification in relevant trades like Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA), Electronics Mechanic, or Electrician with minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Desirable Qualifications: B.Tech/B.E degree in relevant engineering branches. Practical Skills: Hands-on experience with computer hardware and software, networking basics, laboratory equipment, and troubleshooting.
For Junior Technician (Maintenance):
Essential Educational Qualifications: (Option 1) Diploma in Engineering (3 years) in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering from recognized institution, OR (Option 2) Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certification in relevant trades like Electrician, Plumber, Fitter, Welder, Carpenter, Mechanic (Refrigeration & Air Conditioning), or Mason with at least 2 years of relevant work experience in maintenance activities. Desirable Qualifications: B.Tech/B.E degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering. Practical Skills: Hands-on experience in building and infrastructure maintenance, electrical installations and repairs, plumbing works, and general troubleshooting.
Age Limit and Relaxation
The age limits as on the closing date of online application (06th March 2026) vary by position:
Physical Training Instructor: Maximum age limit is 32 years (i.e., candidate should not be born before 06.03.1994).
Junior Assistant and Junior Technician positions: Maximum age limit is 27 years (i.e., candidate should not be born before 06.03.1999).
Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable as per Government of India instructions: SC/ST candidates - 5 years, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates - 3 years, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) - 10 years for General category, 13 years for OBC, 15 years for SC/ST (cumulative with category relaxation), Ex-Servicemen - As per applicable Central Government rules (typically service period plus 3 years subject to age not exceeding 50 years), Government servants working in Central/State Government departments - 5 years relaxation (General/EWS), 8 years (OBC), 10 years (SC/ST), subject to certain conditions. Candidates claiming age relaxation must produce relevant certificates issued by competent authorities in prescribed formats.
Application Fee
The application fee structure is as follows:
General, EWS, and OBC category candidates (Male): Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only)
SC, ST, PwBD, and Women candidates: EXEMPTED from payment of application fee
Mode of Payment: Online payment through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI during the online application process. The payment gateway charges, if any, will be borne by the candidate. Application fee once paid is non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances. Candidates should keep the payment receipt/transaction reference number for future reference.
Selection Process
The selection for all positions will be conducted through a comprehensive multi-stage process:
Stage 1 - Screening of Applications: All online applications will be screened to verify eligibility criteria including educational qualifications, age limit, required documents, and fee payment (where applicable). Only eligible candidates will be considered for further stages.
Stage 2 - Written Test/Skill Test: Shortlisted eligible candidates may be required to appear for a written examination to assess their general knowledge, reasoning ability, subject-specific knowledge, and aptitude relevant to the position. For positions requiring specific skills (typing for Junior Assistant, technical knowledge for Technicians, sports proficiency for Physical Training Instructor), appropriate skill tests or practical demonstrations will be conducted.
Stage 3 - Personal Interview: Candidates qualifying in the written/skill test will be called for personal interview before a duly constituted selection committee. The interview assesses candidates' suitability for the position based on technical knowledge, communication skills, problem-solving ability, attitude, and overall personality.
Final Merit List: The final selection will be based on combined performance in written test, skill test (if applicable), and personal interview, with weightage as decided by the institute. The merit list will be prepared separately for each category (UR, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwBD) and appointments will be offered strictly as per merit and number of vacancies, subject to medical fitness and character verification.

Step 8: Pay application fee online (if applicable) through available payment modes and save the payment receipt
Step 9: Preview the completely filled application form, check all details carefully for accuracy, and make corrections if needed
Step 10: Submit the online application. After successful submission, the system will generate an Application Number/Registration Number
Step 11: Take a printout of the finally submitted application form for personal records and future reference. Candidates may be required to produce this printout during written test/interview along with original certificates.

2. Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply. Candidates must possess the required educational qualifications from universities/institutions recognized by UGC/AICTE/Government of India.

8. SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD certificates must be in prescribed Government of India format and issued by competent authorities. Certificates in other formats or issued by non-competent authorities will not be accepted.
9. Candidates will be required to produce all original certificates and documents for verification at the time of written test/interview. Failure to produce originals will result in disqualification.

11. IIIT Allahabad reserves the right to conduct or not conduct written test/skill test depending on the number of applications received and may directly call candidates for interview if applications are limited.
