Detailed Job Description and Responsibilities

The Project Technical Support-III will be an integral part of the research team working on the ICMR-funded project on bacterial pneumonia. The nature of work involves both laboratory-based activities and field-based sample collection. The key responsibilities include:

1. Sample Collection:

• Responsible for collection of clinical samples including saliva, sputum, and blood from patients with bacterial pneumonia
• Ensure proper collection technique, patient safety, and infection control measures
• Label and document samples accurately with patient details and collection parameters
• Coordinate with clinical departments for timely sample collection

2. Laboratory Processing:

• Perform bacterial culture using standard microbiological techniques on various culture media
• Conduct drug susceptibility testing (DST) to determine antibiotic resistance patterns
• DNA extraction from bacterial isolates using appropriate kits and protocols
• Perform Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) for molecular identification and characterization of bacterial pathogens

Age Limit

Salary and Remuneration

The selected Project Technical Support-III will receive:

The remuneration is consolidated and includes all components. No separate allowances like DA, TA, medical allowance, etc., will be provided. Income tax and other statutory deductions will be as per applicable government rules.

Important Note: This is a project-based contractual position. There will be no annual increments, promotions, or other regular employment benefits. The salary will be paid monthly upon satisfactory completion of assigned work and submission of monthly progress reports.

Contract Duration and Terms

The appointment will be on a purely contractual basis for an initial period of 1 year. The contract is likely to be extendable based on the following factors:

• Extension of project timeline by the funding agency (ICMR)
• Availability of funds for continuation
• Satisfactory performance of the candidate
• Continued requirement of the position in the project

The maximum possible duration will depend on the total project duration approved by ICMR. The contract can be terminated by either party with one month's notice or one month's salary in lieu thereof.

No Regular Employment Claim: This position is purely for the externally sponsored project, and the person engaged will have no claim whatsoever to any regular post in JIPMER at any time. The appointment does not confer any right for absorption, regularization, or permanent employment.
