The Himachal Pradesh Rajya Chayan Aayog (HPRCA), Hamirpur has released an official recruitment notification under Advertisement Number 01/2026 for hiring 234 Junior Office Assistant (IT) positions on job trainee basis. This recruitment presents a golden opportunity for young candidates from Himachal Pradesh who have completed their education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields and are seeking stable government employment in their home state. Himachal Pradesh Rajya Chayan Aayog, also known as HP Subordinate Services Selection Board, is the premier recruitment authority responsible for conducting competitive examinations and selections for various Group-C posts in Himachal Pradesh government departments. HPRCA ensures transparent, fair, and merit-based recruitment following all government norms and providing equal opportunities to all eligible candidates. Junior Office Assistants (IT) perform crucial roles in government offices by managing computer-based documentation, data entry operations, file management, digitization of records, maintaining databases, operating office software applications, and providing technical support for routine IT-related issues. As government operations increasingly become digital, the demand for skilled IT personnel in administrative roles has grown significantly. Selected candidates will be appointed as job trainees and will receive a consolidated fixed monthly stipend of Rs. 12,500/- during the training period. While this may seem modest compared to private sector IT jobs, the position offers stability, work-life balance, limited working hours, pension benefits (for regular employees after confirmation), and other government service benefits. The trainee period provides valuable experience in government functioning and administrative procedures. The total number of vacancies is 234 posts distributed across various government departments and offices throughout Himachal Pradesh. These positions are spread across different districts providing employment opportunities close to candidates' home locations. The exact department-wise and district-wise distribution of vacancies can be found in the detailed vacancy table provided in the official notification. To be eligible for this recruitment, candidates must fulfill specific educational qualifications. The primary requirement is 10+2 qualification from a recognized board or university. Alternatively, candidates with Matriculation plus an IT/ITES ITI certificate are also eligible. Additionally, candidates holding a three-year diploma in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology from an AICTE-approved polytechnic can also apply. An essential requirement is computer typing proficiency. Candidates must possess typing speed of 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi. This typing speed requirement ensures that selected candidates can efficiently handle documentation and data entry work. The typing test will be conducted during the selection process, and candidates failing to meet the required speed will be disqualified. For candidates belonging to the Himachal Pradesh domicile, there is a specific requirement that they must have passed Matriculation and 10+2 examinations from schools or institutions situated within Himachal Pradesh. However, this condition does not apply to bonafide Himachalis who completed their education outside the state. Valid domicile certificate issued by competent authorities must be submitted for verification. The age limit for applicants is 18 to 45 years as on 01 January 2026. This liberal age limit allows both young graduates and experienced individuals to apply for these positions. Age relaxation of 5 years is provided to candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, and other special categories of Himachal Pradesh as per state government rules. Female candidates may also receive age relaxation as prescribed. A special provision has been made for visually impaired persons selected under the 1% disability quota. Such candidates are exempted from acquiring Diploma in Computer Science/Computer Application/IT and are also exempted from passing the typing test. They will be provided necessary basic computer training by designated institutions and must qualify the training within prescribed chances. The online application process will commence on 27 January 2026 at 10:00 AM and will remain open until 27 February 2026 till 11:59 PM. This one-month window provides sufficient time for candidates to complete their applications. However, candidates should not wait until the last day as the website may experience heavy traffic near the closing date causing technical issues. Candidates must apply exclusively through the official HPRCA website at https://hprca.hp.gov.in. The application process involves online registration, filling personal and educational details, uploading scanned documents (photograph, signature, educational certificates, category certificate, domicile certificate), and paying the application fee through online payment gateway. The application fee structure follows Himachal Pradesh Government norms. General and OBC category candidates need to pay the prescribed fee, while SC/ST/OBC/EWS category candidates belonging to Himachal Pradesh receive fee concessions. All female candidates also receive fee concession as per rules. The fee can be paid through debit card, credit card, net banking, or other online payment modes integrated with the application portal. The selection process consists of a Computer Based Test (CBT) or Written Test followed by Document Verification. The examination tests candidates' knowledge in subjects at 10+2 level as prescribed in essential qualifications. The syllabus includes Computer Science, Computer Applications, IT, ITES, Information Practices, General Knowledge including GK of Himachal Pradesh, Current Affairs, Everyday Science, Logical Reasoning, Social Science, General English, and General Hindi of Matriculation standard. The examination will be objective type (multiple choice questions) conducted either in computer-based mode or written mode depending on HPRCA's decision. The question paper will have questions in both English and Hindi languages for non-language subjects. Candidates should prepare thoroughly covering all topics mentioned in the syllabus. Previous years' question papers of similar HPRCA recruitments can help in understanding the exam pattern. General Knowledge of Himachal Pradesh is an important component of the examination. Candidates should study the history, geography, culture, economy, polity, important personalities, tourist places, festivals, folk dances, handicrafts, major government schemes, current developments, and administrative structure of Himachal Pradesh. Several books specifically focused on HP GK are available in the market. The Computer Science/IT syllabus covers fundamentals of computers, operating systems, MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet and email, database management basics, programming fundamentals, computer networks, cybersecurity basics, and emerging technologies. Candidates with formal IT education will find this section relatively easier, while others should prepare systematically. After the CBT/Written Test, qualified candidates will be called for Document Verification. This is a crucial stage where all original documents along with self-attested photocopies must be produced. Any discrepancy between the information provided in the application and actual documents leads to immediate disqualification. Candidates should ensure all their certificates are complete and authentic. The reservation policy follows Himachal Pradesh Government norms with positions reserved for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and other eligible categories. Additionally, horizontal reservation for PwD candidates, ex-servicemen, and women is applicable as per state rules. However, the benefit of reservation is admissible only to bonafide residents of Himachal Pradesh. Reserved category candidates from other states will be treated as General (UR) category. An important point to note is that the number of posts is tentative and may increase or decrease at the time of actual recruitment. HPRCA reserves the right to club posts of similar Recruitment and Promotion Rules up to 31 May 2026 or till the date of CBT/Written Test. Candidates have no right to claim that they applied for specific number of vacancies if there are changes. Selected candidates will initially work as job trainees and receive on-the-job training in various aspects of office automation, file management, e-governance applications, and administrative procedures. The performance during the training period will be evaluated, and upon successful completion, candidates may be considered for regular appointment subject to government policies and availability of regular vacancies. The job location can be anywhere in Himachal Pradesh depending on departmental requirements and vacancies. Candidates should be prepared to work in any district of the state. However, working within the state means staying close to family and familiar cultural environment, which many candidates prefer over outstation jobs. This recruitment presents an excellent opportunity for IT-qualified youth of Himachal Pradesh to secure government employment. With 234 vacancies, the selection ratio is relatively favorable compared to many other government exams. Candidates should prepare diligently, focus on HP GK and current affairs along with technical subjects, and practice typing to meet the speed requirements. Candidates are strongly advised to regularly visit the official HPRCA website at https://hprca.hp.gov.in for all updates regarding admit cards, examination dates, exam centers, answer keys, results, document verification schedules, and final selection lists. HPRCA publishes all information and communications on the website. Candidates should also check their registered email addresses and mobile numbers for SMS alerts.
