DLSA Sawai Madhopur Para Legal Volunteers Recruitment Overview

District Legal Services Authority, Sawai Madhopur (DLSA Sawai Madhopur) has released an official recruitment notification inviting applications from eligible and motivated individuals to join as Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) across various Taluka Legal Services Committees in Sawai Madhopur district. This recruitment offers 13 positions for dedicated individuals who wish to contribute to the cause of legal literacy, justice delivery, and empowerment of marginalized communities. Para Legal Volunteers play a pivotal role in the legal services delivery mechanism by acting as a bridge between legal institutions and the common people, especially those from economically weaker sections, rural areas, and socially disadvantaged groups.

Understanding the Role of Para Legal Volunteers

The concept of Para Legal Volunteers emerged from the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, which mandated the establishment of legal services authorities at national, state, and district levels to provide free legal aid to eligible persons and spread legal awareness. PLVs are voluntary workers who dedicate their time and efforts to ensure that every citizen, regardless of their social or economic status, has access to information about their legal rights and available remedies. They work at the grassroots level in villages, small towns, and underserved communities where formal legal assistance is often unavailable or inaccessible. Their work encompasses a wide range of activities from conducting legal literacy programs, identifying persons in need of legal aid, assisting in documentation, facilitating resolution of disputes through alternative mechanisms like Lok Adalats, to reporting social injustices and human rights violations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Para Legal Volunteers selected through this recruitment will be assigned to specific geographical areas under various Taluka Legal Services Committees including Sawai Madhopur (Headquarters), Bonli, Gangapur City, and Bamanwas. Their primary responsibilities will include conducting regular surveys in their assigned areas to identify individuals and families requiring legal assistance, spreading awareness about fundamental rights, legal entitlements, government welfare schemes, and available legal aid services through community meetings, door-to-door campaigns, and use of social media platforms. PLVs will assist beneficiaries in preparing applications for legal aid, filling forms, and compiling necessary documents. They will maintain regular communication and coordination with the District Legal Services Authority, Taluka Legal Services Committees, and other stakeholders in the legal services delivery system. PLVs are expected to organize and participate in legal awareness camps, especially targeting women, children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, and other vulnerable groups. They will also assist in the organization and conduct of Lok Adalats at various levels and help in settlement of disputes through mediation and conciliation. Additionally, they will maintain records of activities undertaken, cases referred, and outcomes achieved, and submit regular reports to the concerned authorities.

Eligibility Criteria for DLSA Sawai Madhopur PLV Posts

To be eligible for appointment as Para Legal Volunteer under DLSA Sawai Madhopur, candidates must fulfill certain educational, residential, and personal criteria. The minimum educational qualification is passing the Secondary examination (Class 10th) from Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education or equivalent examination recognized by the Government. Candidates must possess good and comprehensive knowledge and ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in Hindi language using Devanagari script. This is crucial as most of the work involves interaction with Hindi-speaking rural populations. Candidates must be mentally and physically fit without any physical defect that would hinder the performance of normal duties associated with the PLV role. Candidates must be residents of the Panchayat Samiti area for which they are applying, and they should be able to provide documentary proof of local residence. Importantly, candidates must not be members of any political party, as the PLV role requires complete impartiality and neutrality in dealing with legal matters affecting all sections of society regardless of political affiliations.

Preferred Categories of Applicants

While any eligible person meeting the basic criteria can apply, DLSA Sawai Madhopur has identified certain categories of individuals who are especially suitable and encouraged to apply for PLV positions. These include retired teachers who have experience in education and community engagement, retired government employees who are familiar with government procedures and have served the public, senior citizens who command respect in society and have life experience to counsel people effectively, students and teachers of Master of Social Work (MSW) programs who are trained in social development and community organization, Anganwadi workers who already work at grassroots level and have established rapport with communities, law students who have completed their law degrees but have not yet enrolled as advocates and wish to gain practical legal experience, members of the medical profession including doctors and physicians who can provide a holistic approach to community welfare, members of registered Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) working in areas of social welfare, legal aid, women empowerment, child rights, etc., members of various clubs, women's groups, Maitri Sangam organizations, and self-help groups (SHGs) who are active in social work, general students who are pursuing their education and wish to contribute to social causes, and any other person who, in the opinion of DLSA, possesses the aptitude, commitment, and capability to effectively discharge the duties of a Para Legal Volunteer.

No Age Bar - Inclusive Opportunity

One of the most attractive features of the Para Legal Volunteer recruitment is that there is no specific age bar mentioned in the official notification. This makes it an inclusive opportunity open to people of all age groups - from young college students to retired professionals and senior citizens. This flexibility recognizes that the PLV role requires social awareness, communication skills, commitment to service, and understanding of community dynamics, which can be found in individuals across different age groups. Young candidates bring energy, technological proficiency, and fresh perspectives, while senior candidates contribute wisdom, experience, social credibility, and established networks in communities.

Honorarium and Other Benefits

Para Legal Volunteers will be provided with an honorarium as determined by the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority from time to time. While the monetary compensation may be modest, the position offers numerous non-monetary benefits and opportunities. PLVs gain valuable experience in the legal field, build networks with legal professionals, judicial officers, government officials, and social workers, develop skills in communication, community organization, conflict resolution, and documentation, earn social recognition and respect for their service to society, and most importantly, experience the satisfaction of making a meaningful difference in people's lives by empowering them with legal knowledge and helping them access justice. For law students and those aspiring for careers in legal services, judiciary, or social development sectors, the PLV role provides excellent practical exposure and adds significant value to their resumes. Retired individuals find this role fulfilling as it allows them to remain active, utilize their experience for social good, and stay connected with their communities.

Selection Process and Important Dates

The selection of Para Legal Volunteers will be conducted through a systematic and transparent process. Applications received will be scrutinized to verify eligibility as per the prescribed criteria. If the number of applications received exceeds the number of vacancies in a particular Taluka, shortlisting will be done based on educational qualifications, relevant experience, age, and other criteria deemed appropriate by the selection committee. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview (sakshatkar) where their suitability for the PLV role will be assessed based on communication skills, understanding of social issues, knowledge of legal concepts, motivation for voluntary service, and ability to work effectively at the community level. The interview panel may consist of judicial officers, legal services authority members, and subject matter experts. Candidates who successfully clear the interview will be required to undergo training conducted by DLSA Sawai Madhopur and Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority. The training will cover topics such as basics of Indian Constitution and legal system, fundamental rights and legal aid, identification of beneficiaries, Lok Adalat procedures, communication and counseling skills, and documentation and reporting. Only after successful completion of training will candidates be declared as qualified Para Legal Volunteers and their names will be included in the panel maintained by DLSA for deployment in various Talukas.

Important dates to note: The application process commenced on 20th January 2026. The last date for submission of completed application forms is 12th February 2026. The list of shortlisted candidates and details about the interview date, time, and venue will be displayed on the notice boards of District Legal Services Authority Sawai Madhopur office and concerned Taluka Legal Services Committee offices. Candidates are advised to regularly check these notice boards as no separate individual intimation will be sent to candidates. No Traveling Allowance (TA) or Dearness Allowance (DA) will be paid to candidates for attending the interview.

Application Process and Required Documents

Interested and eligible candidates must apply offline using the prescribed application form format provided in the official notification. It is advisable to keep photocopies of all submitted documents and the application form for personal records.

Why This Opportunity is Important

The Para Legal Volunteer program represents a unique opportunity to serve society while gaining valuable experience in the legal and social justice sectors. In a country where a large section of the population is still unaware of their legal rights and the formal legal system appears intimidating and inaccessible, PLVs serve as friendly guides who can demystify legal processes and empower people to seek justice. For Sawai Madhopur district, which has both urban and significant rural populations with diverse socio-economic challenges, the need for effective legal services at grassroots level is immense. By joining as a PLV, individuals can directly contribute to social transformation, women empowerment, child protection, elderly care, prevention of bonded labor and human trafficking, access to government entitlements, and resolution of various civil and criminal justice issues. The role is particularly significant in current times when awareness about constitutional rights, gender justice, social security schemes, and environmental protections needs to reach every corner of society.

This recruitment notification from DLSA Sawai Madhopur is a call to all socially conscious individuals to come forward and be part of the mission to make justice accessible to all.
